our 4th of july weekend

Dave, Will and I spent this past weekend up in Butler, PA for a family reunion. My grandparents from New Orleans were also going to make the trip and this was going to be their first time meeting Will. The car ride up was long. Don't be fooled by the below picture. This captures the only 5 minutes when Will was happy. He was so mad that he could not roll over in his car seat. Sorry bud!
Once we got to the hotel and were able to take him out of his car seat and strip him down to let him roll around he was great. Crazy little guy :)
Dave and I realized we don't have to many pics of us with Will so here is our attempt to prove that we were really there :) Will was having tummy time so we joined him.
The jean diapers were on sale the other day so I got a package for Will to wear. Huggies if you ever need a baby model I don't think Will would mind!

The next day {Sunday} we went over to see my grandparents so Will could spend some time with them before the big reunion party.
Will loved meeting his great grandma and she loved him so much!
Here is Will with his great granddad. Will loved playing with his beard.
The last time I visited Butler we spent most of our time at the family farm which was owned {at the time} by my grandma's brother {did you get all of that :) }. He has since passed away and now the home belongs to one of his nieces. She is restoring the farmhouse as well as adding on to better suit her family and I love that she is keeping the original logs. This used to be the covered front porch.

The below picture is of the pond on the property were we would swim.

The farm and all of the above property is located at the end of the road where the house my grandmother grew up was built. She lived here with her five brothers and sisters.
Will was a trooper during our visit and learned to adapt his nap times from the pack n play to granddad's shoulder. Love this sweet boy and his big brown eyes.

We had a great 4th of July with family and even though Will was not a great traveler I am still glad we made the trip.

around the house

I am all out of ideas for today and my parents are about to arrive and it is chaos here so this is going to be a quick one. I still have to pack and do a little shopping before we leave early tomorrow morning. We are going to try and fit 5 people plus luggage in an Acura and if you have seen how I pack you would understand why this is stressing me so much! pray for us :) I thought I would leave you with some pictures of things I love from around my house. I know, not very interesting but this is the best you are gonna get from me today :) I hope you all have a wonderful and safe 4th of July weekend!

red, white and blue

As promised here is an easy 4th of July project that takes under 5 minutes to do and adds a little festive touch to your home.
I found the already cut out felt stars in the dollar section at Joanne.
Of course if you already have felt and want to do it yourself go ahead but I knew my stars would not look that great so I spent the $3.00 {for 3 packs} and called it a day. All I needed for this project was my twine and hole puncher {both of which I already had} and I could get to work.
Just punch one hole in the top of each star and then add the stars one at a time to your twine.
I really like how it looked all stacked up and will have to remember to get more stars next year to try and achieve this look.
Once I had them all added to the twine I simply hung them from my fireplace. For $3.00 total I loved how this turned out!
Yesterday, I also made this little onesie for Will to wear on Monday.
I have been looking for a fourth of July outfit this past week but I guess I waited to long and have not been able to find anything so I had to make one myself. Not perfect but since he will only wear it once I think it will serve it's purpose for the pictures :) Please excuse the non ironed mess. I promise it looks cuter in person!  I already had the fabric, onesie and the iron on webbing so this little outfit was free.

I am off to my office garage to finish spray painting a project that I have been working on. Cannot wait to show you all the finished product!

we made it to 6 months

My baby boy turned 6 months today and we celebrated by taking him to the doctor this morning for his 6 month check-up. I snapped a few photos of him sitting like a big boy waiting for the doctor.
Just for kicks below are a few of Will's month by month pictures. It is so fun to see how the little man has changed over the past 6 months! The first picture is a pretty good representation of how both he and I spent the first month :)
Thankfully at two months he started to show us his sweet side. Love that little man.
I will be back tomorrow with a fun and easy 4th of July craft so stay tuned!
